Kuwait has invited local and foreign companies to submit pre-qualification bids for a project to build a workers' town in Al-Jahra city west of the capital Kuwait City, a newspaper reported on Sunday.
The Kuwait Authority for Partnership Projects (KAPP), which oversees joint public-private ventures, asked all national, regional and international firms, as well as consortiums, to participate in the prequalification bids, Arabic daily Al-Seyassah said.
The project involves the construction of houses for expatriate workers as well as power, water and sewage networks, roads and other facilities in the workers’ town spanning around one million square metres.
The town will have the capacity to accommodate nearly 20,000 people and it will be managed by a joint public-private venture for 40 years.
KAPP said those bidding for the project must have a minimum 10-year experience in similar partnership projects regionally and internationally.
