University of Bahrain plans $93mln building for engineering faculty

The University of Bahrain is planning to construct a new building for its faculty of engineering to replace the old one within other projects approved for the government university.
The new building will be located in the Southern Sakhir desert area and will cost around 35 million Bahrain dinars ($92.81 million).
Officials said the first phase of the project would cost 17 million dinars ($45.08 million) and that it involves several buildings.
Other projects by the university includes car parks, rehabilitation of the Building 31 of the university in Isa Town, a new college for teachers, a shopping mall at the University's Sakhir campus and a housing complex for the teaching staff.
The projects were discussed at a meeting on Sunday between Public Works, Municipal Affairs and Urban Planning Minister Essam bin Abdullah Khalaf and University of Bahrain President Riyad Hamzah.
