UAE's ENOC signs second contract for $1bln refinery expansion project
10 April 2017
The United Arab Emirates' ENOC Group announced on Monday that it has signed an agreement with Rotary Engineering Fujairah to construct 12 new storage tanks as part of its plans to expand the capacity of its Jebel Ali refinery by 50 percent.
The $1billion expansion project consists of three separate packages and would boost the Jebel Ali refinery's production capacity to 210,000 barrels per day (bpd) from existing 140,000 bpd, with commercial production scheduled to start in the fourth quarter of 2019.
The 12 tanks, with a total capacity of 450,000 m3, have been designed to store Jet fuel, Naphtha along with Gasoline blend stocks and would be connected to the marine export facilities on the terminal jetties, according to a statement from ENOC.
The second package would also see the construction of a 31,000 square foot warehouse, the statement said.
In September 2016, ENOC had announced the award of the engineering, procurement and construction package for the design and construction of new processing units and ancillary units at the refinery to TechnipFMC (formerly Technip).
ENOC's Jebel Ali refinery was commissioned in 1999, starting with two condensate distillation units with a name plate capacity of 60,000 bpd each, four MEROX units, and storage capacity of 1.28 million cubic meters.
