Iraq invites bids for constructing refinery in Faw - newspaper
16 May 2017
Iraq has invited bids from foreign companies to build a new oil refinery in its southern port of Faw with a production capacity of 300,000 barrels per day (bpd), a local newspaper has reported.
Iraqi’s Oil Ministry has asked foreign investors to submit bids for the project either on a build-own-operate (BOO) or build-operate-transfer (BOT) basis, Arabic daily Al-Sabah Al-Jadeed said.
The paper quoted a ministry statement as saying tender documents would be available at the ministry until 31 May and that the bidding deadline is 1 August, 2017.
"The project, with a capacity of 300,000 bpd meant for export, is part of plans to develop the country's refining sector," the statement said.
The paper earlier quoted officials as saying that there are plans to construct four other oil refineries in the Southern port of Basra, Kirkuk in the North, Kut in the East and Samawah, southeast the capital Baghdad.
