Edamah gets six bids for resort design consultancy services

Bahrain Real Estate Investment (Edamah), the real estate arm of Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company, has received six bids for providing lead design consultancy services for its 350 million Bahraini dinars ($928.33 million) tourism destination project, the North Hawar development coming up on the Hawar Islands.
The bidders are Dar SSH International Engineering, Mott McDonald, Mohammed Salahuddin Consulting, Gulf House Engineering, Adel Ahmadi Associates and Ansari Engineering Services, according to a Bahrain Tender Board statement.
Edamah said in a June 2016 statement that it would invest 350 million Bahraini dinars ($928.33 million) for renovating the existing resort and developing a new resort spread over 100 hectares.
Phase one, consisting of a 350-key five star lagoon resort, 150 eco-friendly apartments and villas, is scheduled for completion by 2019 while phase two, which includes renovation of the 100-year old Hawar mosque, a 150-key boutique hotel, 155 residential villas and a 200-key wellness resort and spa, will be completed by 2021-end.
The new resort will be developed in two phases with construction works expected to commence in 2017.
Hawar Islands is an archipelago of 35 islands spanning 51 million square metres south east of Bahrain with 80 percent of the land declared a wildlife preservation zone.
