The Center of Waste Management in Abu Dhabi (Tadweer) has invited expression of interest (EOI) for waste management investment projects in the Abu Dhabi on a design, build, own and operate (DBOO) basis.
The scope of work for Abu Dhabi and Al Dhafra region includes the management and treatment of medical and hazardous waste, management and recycling of used tyres and manufacturing of value added products from recycled materials on a DBOO basis. It also covers the management and recycling of used cooking oil to manufacture biodiesel.
The scope also includes delivery, installation and operation of an additional line at the existing medical waste incinerating 500 kg per hour at the existing medical waste incinerator facility in Al Ain for treatment of medical and hazardous waste.
Local and international companies having three years of experience in operation of such facility can submit EOI by 11 May, 2017, said a public invite.
UAE English daily The National reported last month that leftover cooking oil, grease and fat collected from kitchens in homes and restaurants across the UAE capital could be used to make biodiesel under a new recycling scheme.
Tadweer works towards building and implementing integrated waste management and pest control systems and converting all waste into valuable economic resources, according to its website.
